What stays separate Chat events are visible to active members of that Chat. A shared group calendar is limited to its invited members; neither shares unrelated personal events automatically.
Two ways to coordinate plans
For a date, trip or appointment
Create a Chat event in an accepted private conversation. The event appears in the personal Calendar views of eligible Chat members, so there is no separate calendar to maintain for a single plan. Chat events also work in group chats; this page focuses on the couple use case.
For an ongoing shared schedule
Create a shared group calendar when you want one place for household plans, regular meetups or other commitments. Invite the people who need it and assign calendar roles.
Set up the plan you both need
- Decide whether you are coordinating one plan or keeping an ongoing schedule together.
- For one plan, create a Chat event in your active private conversation. For a shared routine, create a group calendar and invite its members.
- Update the event when details change. Eligible Chat members or shared-calendar participants see the current plan in their calendar views.
Sharing a plan does not merge personal schedules
A Chat event is available to active members of that Chat. A shared calendar is available to its invited members. Neither choice gives someone access to unrelated personal events in your own calendar.
Questions about planning as a couple
Do we need a joint account?
No. Each person uses their own SotiDo account. You can share one Chat event or invite each other to a separate shared calendar.
Do we need to create a separate calendar?
Not for a one-off plan. Create a Chat event for a date or trip; use a shared group calendar when you want a continuing schedule with its own members and roles.
Can friends or housemates use the same options?
Yes. Chat events and shared calendars are not limited to couples. Choose the workflow that fits the people and plan.
Can I hide a Chat event from my own Calendar view?
Yes. Each participant can hide the event in their own Calendar view; that does not remove it for other active Chat members.
